Channel Zero,
2020

Sculpture, Video, Performance, 2D Art
Channel Zero, is a series of video works, objects, and writings, exploring how queerness can manifest and intervene within an exhibition space (the white cube) and within the media. In this work, the installation was playing on the exhibition space itself, an established gallery for contemporary art, as a space to play and experiment in disrupting societal norms and expectations of a gallery space or an artwork. This immersive installation gave viewers a space filled with cushions and rainbow fabrics to sit in and watch untelevised video works on a loop within a set on the TV. It was also working with ideas of queerness through the idea of naturecultures (Haraway, 2003), intentionally fusing both organic and synthetic materials in the installation.

The three videos, available below, Rainbow Bridge Meditation (2019), The Cake Report (2019), and Daytime Disco (2019) were played on a loop.

Other elements included a sculpture of two heads, wearing a hand-welded metal crown fit to hold an iphone, which played an blender rendered animation of a moving rainbow. Additionally, the installation incorporated queer-themed drawings, recycled spray painted rainbows on paper, neon tape, branches, confetti, rocks with text on them, plants, colored fabrics, and screenshots of text messages.
